The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is inviting applications for the post of Assistant Engineer. The main responsibilities of the Assistant Engineer will be to provide technical assistance in the planning, design and execution of electrical engineering projects.
He/she will also be responsible for supervising the work of junior engineers and technicians, and for ensuring that all projects are completed within the specified time and budget. Candidates for this position must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university, and must have at least 3 years of experience in a similar position.

The Board’s Functions

The Chairman is the ex-officio Secretary to the Government. The Board is assisted by a Director General who is the ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Government. The Board is responsible for the formulation of policy and plans for the rural electrification program and for the implementation of the program. The Board is also responsible for the financial management of the program. The Board has the authority to raise loans from financial institutions for the implementation of the program. The Board has been playing a pivotal role in the implementation of the rural electrification program and has made significant progress in providing access to electricity to rural households. As of December 2018, 96% of the target households have been electrified. The Board is confident of achieving its target of electrifying all rural households by December 2021.
